Take Time for Yourself
“As family members age we often find ourselves giving up pleasant activities of our own, but there is a balance between caregiving and our other activities that need to be maintained. Slowly but surely you may find yourself giving up simple pleasures like coffee with a friend at Starbucks once a week. It may not seem like much, but over time as your caregiving tasks slowly increase, suddenly you realize how poorly you are taking care of yourself. Take stock of your stress regularly and adjust or you may not be around to help your aging parent.” — Sheila Carter, President/Founder, Heartsong Memory Care
