Taking the elderly to a physician’s appointment allows them to get out of the house and be engaged in their own health issues by confiding in their physician and receiving a reassuring response.
Developing a good plan for regular medical follow up is important to:
• Allow for plenty of time so they do not feel rushed.
• Have all the essentials on hand: a snack, change of undergarments if needed, additional medication doses in case the visit is prolonged, applicable paperwork and X-rays from other physicians, and of course now, a mask.
• Schedule the appointment at an optimal time for your elderly family member or friend so they will be at their best.
