Here are two community events you don’t want to miss this month:
ElderServe, a nonprofit organization focused on improving the quality of life for seniors, is celebrating people in the community who share their mission. They will honor Reverend Ron Loughry, executive director of Fern Creek/Highview United Ministries, as part of their annual Champion for Aging Luncheon. Reverend Loughry, has been an advocate for the senior community for 30 years and is active in multiple community associations. “Louisville is a community blessed with individuals, companies, and civic groups willing to work together regardless of individual missions to champion services for seniors,” Ron says. “It’s an honor for me to be part of such a community and to play some small part in this vital work.”
When: June 12, 11:30 a.m. – 12 p.m.
Where: Galt House East, Grand Ballroom 140 N. 4th Street Tickets: $75
Contact: 502.587.8673 or order tickets online at ElderServeInc.org
Here’s one way you can take care of your health and help others: participate in the Larosa Loop fundraiser, a non-competitive run/walk, wheel event hosted by Frazier Rehab Institute. Proceeds from the event will be used to purchase a new driver evaluation car, which is vital for helping Frazier Rehab patients drive again. The car will be used to do driving evaluations, which include physical assessment, cognitive screening, visual/perceptual screening and reaction time testing. You also can take some time out to play games, listen to music or enter one of several raffles at the event.
When: June 27, 9 a.m.; registration begins at 8 a.m.
Registration fee: $25
