Victor Lee, Age 69
How did you get started on your fitness journey?
Retirement at age 65 provided me with the opportunity to rebuild and maintain a higher level of functional fitness for a more successful and enjoyable retirement life.
What would you say is the best thing you gain from being fit?
A regular fitness routine provides me with improved physical, mental, and emotional well being. Experiencing the continuous improvements can also give you a sense of accomplishment.
What would you suggest to someone who is over 45 who wanted to get fit?
Start small. Build slowly. Choose activities that you enjoy on a schedule that you can sustain. Be realistic. Be patient. A personal trainer can help you stay on track.
What’s your fitness routine?
While my specific routines may change from week to week, my schedule is relatively constant. Most importantly, it works for me.
Thursday: resistance training session with personal trainer, 1 hour
Friday: rest day
Saturday: shoulder therapy exercises, core resistance session, 2 hours
Sunday: aerobic, treadmill, 2.5 miles, 40 minutes
What do you do to help your mind/spirit/emotional health?
I am active in my church family and enjoy service activities in the broader community that focus on feeding people.
