As we age, we may think our color and style choices for makeup are limited. But, this isn’t so, according to Stephani Jones, an aesthetician and makeup artist at Z Salon and Spa. “You can do a lot of things with your makeup,” Stephani says, “you just have to do them the best way for your skin.”
Stephani shows Sue Anderson how to transition makeup for maturing skin:
“As we age, our skin becomes dryer so a light liquid exfoliant is a great way to wipe away any extra dry skin. Then add a moisturizer to make sure your skin is plumped and full. These will help your foundation lay better and not seep into any fine lines or wrinkles.”
“Playing up certain features on our face is a great way to make an impact. The eyes are a perfect example. If sagging eyelids are an issue for you, make sure you are applying your
eye shadow to the entire eyelid and just above your crease. Shimmery colors are not recommended as they tend to seep into creases. Using a near-hair-color eye shadow to lightly fill in eyebrows is also a great way to highlight the eye.”
“Our lips tend to have more wrinkles and fine lines as we age. Therefore, a pencil liner is key to keeping your lipsticks and stains in place all day and prevents color seeping onto the face.”
