We went searching for the latest trends in fall home decor and found ourselves at Century Entertainment & Furnishings. Century offers interior design services and custom cabinetry builds. Their vast showroom, located at 4310 Shelbyville Road, offers a variety of interior design vignettes, many which include examples of their custom cabinetry work.
Kiersten Trover, head designer at Century likes to start her design process with a black and white base. She’ll then layer with color, natural materials, different metals, contrasting colors, and complementary patterns. Natural materials, such as rope, cain, rattan, and live edge pieces of wood are all popular, along with the use of different colors, patterns, and textures. Mixing different metals in a setting like brass, silver, matte black, and brushed nickel works nicely, and can be a budget saver when existing metal fixtures are already in place.
With a black and white base, it’s easy to switch out a look. Example: for a new look, one can easily switch out decorative pillows, throw blankets, rugs, etc.
Homeowners are also filling empty spaces found in lofts or other areas of the home, such as a landing found at the top of a staircase. These spaces are being created and designated for her. The ‘she space’ if you will.
