Lunch Plus One is a simple outing to do with a friend or a relative. This summer outing takes you to Southern Indiana for a cool, tasty treat and beautiful views.
THE LUNCH: Widow’s Walk Ice Creamery
Nothing complements a warm, summer day like a big ice cream sundae.
Located by the Ohio River with a great view of downtown Louisville, the Widow’s Walk Ice Creamery is the perfect place to go for your next sweet fix. The beautiful skyline in the distance can best be viewed from the comfy outdoor seating area — with a peanut butter shake in hand, of course.
The menu is extensive, offering everything from shakes and sundaes to floats and smoothies. The treats are sweet, but so is the service. Friendly people and delicious ice cream — does it get any better than that?

Widow’s Walk’s popular sweet treats include:
- Proud Mary’s Peanut Butter Cup Sundae (at right) — two warm brownies, Peanut Butter Cup ice cream, hot fudge, whipped cream, nuts, and a cherry on top.
- Sherbet Cooler — a blend of Sprite and your choice of orange sherbet or raspberry sherbet.
- Bananaberry Shake — a blend of strawberry ice cream, one large banana, a shot of vanilla, and milk.
THE PLUS ONE: Falls of the Ohio State Park
Once your sweet tooth is satisfied, chances are you need a way to fight off the inevitable sugar rush. Only a short stroll from Widow’s Walk, you’ll find the Falls of the Ohio State Park — a perfect spot to hike or bike off those ice cream calories.
From fishing, to bird watching, to hiking across a fossil bed, Falls of the Ohio has so much to explore. Choose to walk the Woodland Loop Trail, a half-mile path with only a few inclines, or bike 1.5 miles to the George Rogers Clark home site.
If you prefer an indoor activity, the Interpretive Center features various wildlife exhibits, an observation room, and even a river viewing room.
