From ‘eggs-travagent’ zoo adventures to all things Derby, April brings us some of the best events Louisville has to offer!
Thunder. Over. Louisville. Need I say more? This annual fireworks spectacular and airshow starts off April with a — you guessed it — BANG! Admission is free with a 2025 Pegasus Pin for you to enjoy the all-day entertainment. So, grab your earplugs and head down to Waterfront Park April 12 to kick off the Derby season in the best way. Find out more about all the Kentucky Derby Festival’s events here.
After you’ve rested up from Thunder, head out to Slugger Field on April 15 where Taste of Derby will be hitting a home run for local foodies. From 5:30-8pm, this cocktail party features dishes from more than 75 of Louisville’s finest restaurants and beverage companies. And yes, there will be bourbon. Proceeds go to the Dare to Care Food Bank.
March 29th Through April 20, take the family to the Louisville Zoo for a Safari Eggventure! Happening on selected days during April, you can ‘egg-splore’ the zoo with a scavenger hunt game, trivia questions, and special competitive challenges.
Kroger’s Fest-A-Ville on the Waterfront is going on from April 24 to May 2. This festival showcases concerts including jazz, R&B, country, and rock. Don’t forget about the family fun with the inflatable playground and midway rides. From 11am-11pm (with slightly different hours on Sundays), enjoy the day outside celebrating all things food, fun, and Derby! Oh, and don’t miss the Great Balloon Glow on April 24-25 at Kroger’s Fest-a-Ville. Check out the giant hot air balloons before they paint the sky on April 26 for the Great Balloon Race — a tradition since 1973.
End your month with the Pegasus Parade starting at 3pm on April 27. Don your rose or magenta tones for this memorable experience that will celebrate spring and the Derby Festival’s favorite color with the 2025 theme of “Happy Derby: Pink Out Party!”
Wishing you a great Derby season!
