Whether it’s fireworks, food, or festivals, July has some of the hottest goings-on in the coolest town!
Start your month off with a bang at the fireworks festivities taking place all over Louisville. Watch fireworks fly over the river from the Big Four Lawn at Waterfront Park. With music from Louisville Orchestra and food vendors, you can’t go wrong with spending the evening celebrating along the Ohio River at this free event. If you’re looking for a more intimate social gathering that includes all the fireworks, don’t miss The Crescent Hill 4th of July Festival. This fun fête runs all day from 8am-10pm and features live music, games for the kids, and of course, food! Check out the art fair and cake-baking contests before the fireworks start.
On July 15, the 4th Annual African Heritage Festival will be held in downtown Louisville at Ben Washer Park and Spalding University Soccer Fields. This family-friendly event honoring the culture, art, and history across the African Diaspora includes music, dance, sports, fashion, cultural demonstrations, and much more. This same weekend, if you’re feeling like food straight from the grill, find your favorite hamburger during Burger Week from July 15-17. Download the official Burger Week app and sample burgers from all over town: O’Shea’s, LouVino, and The Bristol are a few of the more than 30 participating restaurants. Cheese or no cheese, bun or English muffin — by the end of the week, you’ll know which you love!
Find that classic summertime block party feel at the NuLu Summer Fest happening on July 22. This street festival features craft beers, live music, and activities for the entire family, not to mention local and regional vendors showcasing their handcrafted items. This fest is free and is open from noon-7pm with parking available on side streets and surface lots.
End your July with more foodie fun at the Louisville Street Food Festival taking place at Fourth Street Live on July 27-28. The food festival will be set up on an entire city block featuring Louisville’s best food trucks and restaurants. All food items are priced at $5 or less! So grab some grub and listen to the live music as the hottest month of the year comes to a close.
