When it comes to celebrating in the summer, the party is going on the entire month of June here in Louisville. Check out these events not to miss!
Start the month off with the Muhammad Ali Festival celebrating the legacy of one of Louisville’s favorites. Ali Fest is taking over Louisville Slugger Stadium on June 1-2. The Muhammad Ali Center is free to the public. Walk through immersive experiences, explore exhibits and educational programming, and enjoy food, games, and more.
The next weekend, the 14th annual Germantown Schnitzelburg Bluesfest is happening at the corner of Hickory and Burnett Ave. With three acts on Friday the 7th and five acts on Saturday the 8th, you’ll have plenty of time to sing the blues. Admission is free, and part of the proceeds benefit the Dare to Care food bank. The same weekend, the Greek Festival is back, so if you’re ready for some good food and family fun, stop by the Assumption Greek Orthodox Church in Lyndon. There’ll be live Greek music, dancing, a marketplace, and authentic food like gyros, baklava and loukoumades. Opa!
The celebration doesn’t stop there because the 4th annual Juneteenth Festival takes place June 12-15 in downtown Louisville. This four-day festival opens with a mixer on June 12 and ends on June 15 with Lynn Family Stadium showcasing over 100 Black-owned businesses, music, networking events, food, and more. Also on June 15, you can celebrate Pride Month at the Kentuckiana Pride Parade beginning at noon. Dedicated to celebrating the LGBTQ+ community, the parade starts off a full day of festivities that include entertainment and food. The parade starts in NuLu and ends at the Big Four Lawn where the festival is held.
End your month with some family-friendly fun at Waterfront Wednesday. On June 26 a free concert takes place on the Big Four Lawn with the lawn opening at 5pm and the concerts beginning at 6pm. And if you’re a lover of antiques, you’ll love the summer Antiques Market at the historic 18th-century farm site, Locust Grove, on June 30. Antique dealers will set up shop on the grounds so you can wander through and find anything from fancy furniture to small trinkets.
