Your taste buds will thank you for stepping out to the many food festivals around the Queen City this month. But if plants or art are more your passion, then May has some surprises in store for you there, too.
Start your month off with a day-long festival about all things green and growing with Growfest on May 4. Novice and experienced gardeners alike are welcome to soak up all the info on topics such as vegetables and pollinator-friendly perennials. With free speakers and panels, there’s something for everyone at Growfest – including music and activities for the kids.
Satisfy your stomach at Smoke on the River BBQ Fest May 10-12. Savor the flavors of barbecue ribs, chicken and brisket from the area’s top pitmasters while basking in the scenic view of the Ohio River and Cincinnati skyline at Covington Plaza. You can also enjoy live music. Oh, and admission is free!

On Mother’s Day (May 12), take your mom to the monthly local art show Art on Vine. Open from noon-6pm in Washington Park, you’ll find art and handmade crafts from over 80 artists – and possibly a special one-of-a-kind gift your mom will cherish. Also on Mother’s Day, admission for moms to the Cincinnati Zoo is free. When you arrive at the turnstiles, let the employees know you’re a Superstar Mom, and they’ll allow you to come in for free.

For those who love a good craft beer, check out Malts in Ault on May 17 starting at 6pm. In Ault Park Pavillion, you’ll hear live music and be able to sample a wide variety of international brews. Then enjoy Memorial Day weekend with entertainment and the best food at the Taste of Cincinnati street festival. This event runs from May 25-27 where you can try out dishes from a range of cuisines including Italian, Hawaiian, Greek, and more! You’ll be able to choose from a “record-breaking 77 vendors” comprising food trucks, restaurants, and Findlay Market vendors.
