Spring into action with these Louisville happenings. March starts with a bang!
Laissez les bons temps rouler (let the good times roll) this March 1 at Mardi Gras at Fourth Street Live! This fête for ages 21+ starts at 2pm and features special drinks, live entertainment, a king cake eating contest, and more. Then keep the party going on the first of March with Tailspin Ale Fest at historic Bowman Field. The outdoor event will feature more than 50 breweries, Cox’s Cigar Lounge, and Drake’s Silent Disco. Don’t miss the local vendors and food trucks celebrating the end of winter.
Oh, and don’t think March 1 is done! Later that night, bring out your tuxes and evening gowns for the Speed Art Museum Ball. As the most significant annual fundraiser for the museum, this gala is sure to be a beautiful evening with the theme this year of Springtime in Paris. Proceeds help support exhibitions, arts education, conservation efforts, and community engagement.

If you’re looking for family fun with the grandkids, children of every age will enjoy Jim Henson’s Fraggle Rock: Back to the Rock Live! Experience the characters of the beloved ’80s puppet TV show Fraggle Rock in a live performance at the historic Louisville Palace on March 5 at 7pm.
And don’t forget about Sensory Friendly Sunday at the Louisville Zoo on March 9 from 1-4pm. If you have grandchildren with sensory needs or even an older loved one who would benefit from a calmer setting, these special days held once a month at the zoo offer a quieter, less stimulating, and more exclusive zoo experience. Zoo staff and volunteers will be there to take you on a guided sensory-friendly walk to see your favorite animal ambassadors. The zoo also offers a Hump Day Happy Hour on Wednesday, March 5, and a green-themed Trivia Night on March 19 from 6:30-9pm.

Bring in the luck of the Irish at the annual St. Patrick’s Parade on March 8. Brought to you by Louisville’s Ancient Order of Hibernians, an Irish-Catholic fraternal organization, the parade will start downtown and finish in the Highlands with bagpipers, dancers, and festive floats parading through the streets. So don your favorite green outfit and enjoy Irish culture — Erin go bragh!
Get a taste of summer fun to come at NuLu Bock Fest from noon-6pm on Saturday, March 22. Check out the best local brews, food, entertainment, and if that isn’t enough, watch the baby goat races!
