Cincinnati has some wonderful outdoor festivals and faires (spelled with an “e”) for you to enjoy before cooler weather comes blowing in. So, get out your sunglasses and picnic blankets one last time for the goings-on this month in the Queen City.
Up in the sky, it’s a bird, it’s a plane…well, it’s definitely a plane celebrating the Lunken Airport Days on Labor Day weekend. Historic planes like WWII bombers and B-17s, helicopters, and cockpit tours are all the buzz this weekend. This family-friendly event from 9am-5pm will be flying high with food trucks and activities to honor all veterans. Check out the website for the event schedule.
Also this Labor Day, the Ohio Renaissance Festival will bring all you Lords and Ladies together. Head back to a 16th-century English village where Queen Elizabeth I rules. Jugglers, storytellers, and Renaissance musicians will all be present to entertain and amuse. And no bad luck this Friday the 13th when the Covington Oktoberfest will bring all the good vibes. This fête features local food, live music, and “ja!” — all your favorite beers. It’s happening at Goebel State Park from Sept 13-15 starting at noon.
The September Summer Music Festival at Ault Park gets rockin’ with headliner The Foles Band. From 6-10pm, enjoy the music, food, and new “Kickstand Cocktails.” Bring the grandkids to take part in crafts and activities from 6-8pm, and then astronomer Dean Regas and his colleagues will be setting up telescopes for visitors to do a little stargazing. End your month with the Cincinnati Moon Festival, which celebrates the city’s Chinese community. The festival features live music, wonderful food, and “the beauty and traditions of Chinese culture.” Located at Fountain Square, the event starts at 3pm and closes at 8pm.
