From coffee creations to cool immersive art, there’s so much to explore this October in the Queen City. Check out our picks for Halloween entertainment and flavors to savor.
Bourbon in the Bluegrass is happening October 5 from 3-7pm, offering the best bourbon and music only 22 minutes outside of Cincy in Union, Kentucky. Then you can get your scare on during selected nights through October at the Halloween Haunt at Kings Island. With scare zones, live entertainment, and creepy creatures waiting to give you a good fright, you won’t recognize your usual theme park. This experience is recommended for ages 13 and up, but Kings Island also has a new family-friendly event that younger kids will enjoy called Tricks or Treats on Saturdays and Sundays.
The 5th Annual Bikes and Beer Fest is pedaling along on October 5 featuring 5-, 30-, and 45-mile rides. All participants start and end at the Rhinegeist Brewery where you’ll find craft beers, live music, and a charity raffle. Sign up online for your fully marked route as all riding levels are welcome. After you’ve gotten in your weekend exercise, check out the relaxing vibe at Gormon Heritage Farm for their Sunflower Festival on October 5-6. You can cut flowers to take home while listening to live music and eating from food trucks, and the grandkids will love meeting the farm animals.
Save room in your belly for Cincinnati Taco Week happening Oct 7-13. Get tacos starting at $2.50 from some of Cincy’s favorite taco restaurants. Download the app to map out your tacos for the week. Then, the nation’s largest immersive art event, Blink, is lighting up the Queen City from October 17-20. Stroll through landmarks and buildings transformed into animated, glowing works of art by muralists and light installation and projection artists.
End your month with caffeinated goodness at the Cincinnati Coffee Festival on October 26-27. Coffee (and tea) lovers won’t want to miss learning about the science of a good cup of coffee while listening to live music and sampling baked goods. And one more spooky event—get into the Halloween spirit as a family at the Blue Ash Nature Park Halloween Walk in the Woods. Trick-or-treat, create a craft, and sample snacks, all going on from 12-3pm on October 26.
