Are you ready to chill out after the holidays? This January, Louisville has some very cool happenings to check out throughout the month.
Start your new year off buzzing with the North American Honey Bee Expo January 2-4. Whether you keep bees or you’d just like to learn about our favorite pollinators, this event will broaden your knowledge and allow you to discover the latest beekeeping innovations. Check out the Honey Show, artistic beeswax creations, bee photography, and more at this un-bee-lievable experience happening at the Kentucky Expo Center.
Take the grandkids to Jurassic Quest, North America’s largest traveling dinosaur event. This exhibit, going on at the Kentucky Expo Center January 10-12, features detailed, true-to-size dinosaurs, including a gigantic T-Rex! With bounce houses, a bungee pull, and inflatables, kids and adults alike won’t be disappointed at this singular showing.
If you’re ready for some cool rock but want to stay warm, don’t miss Winter Jam at the KFC Yum! Center on January 17. This concert features performances by Christian artists such as Anne Wilson and Colton Davis, along with inspiring speakers. Tickets are $15, and you can pay at the door or online. A few other January shows you might want to check out are the Elvis Tribute Artist Spectacular at the Kentucky Center; Love, Lies & the Lottery at Derby Dinner Playhouse; and The Importance of Being Earnest at Actors Theatre.
Calling outdoor adventurers: the Boat, RV and SportShow is back January 22-26 at the Kentucky Expo Center. Enjoy the family-friendly activities and find something your speed by browsing through the newest boats and RVs.
January 31 marks the opening of the annual Kosair Shrine Circus. The Shrine is an international fraternity of approximately 500,000 members, distinguished by “the enjoyment of life in the interest of philanthropy.” The circus was first held in 1925 and has become a tradition here in Louisville. Performed by George Carden Circus International, this traveling circus boasts animals and performers that will enthrall and amaze. Tickets are available online.
